Service, close to home.
A fellow veteran to check in on. A young person to encourage. A community that remembers. This is where our work begins.

Americanism
Honoring those who serve.
Our Honor Guard shares military funeral honors with the local VFW and presents the colors at community and sporting events. We hold a public flag retirement ceremony at Paddler’s Park, host the Veterans Day Salute, and take part in Memorial Day observances.
Members have also turned out with flags to welcome National Guard troops home.
Children & Youth
Encouraging what comes next.
We sponsor young people to attend Badger Boys State and support a local scholarship.
Community gatherings, including our Car & Bike Show at Walsh Field and brat fries, are other ways to meet the people behind the Post.
1928
A memorial along the lake.
With donations from the community, the Burns Post planted hundreds of elms along the lakeshore highway to remember those who died in World War I. That year, the County Board named the road American Legion Memorial Drive.
